The Guy in Black

Hey, I made this story myself. Enjoy~

He was getting ready for his next solo. As the audience cheered on, I couldn’t help but looked at him with hopeful, admiring eyes. He looked at me, waved, then went onstage with his beloved violin. I was satisfied. He is my best friend, also the love of my life. But I never told him, for fear of losing our friendship.

He began playing my personal favorite, “Air on the G String”. All this while, he was searching the crowd, hoping to see the girl I know so well. She was not here, she told him that she will be there but she was not! She, who is also my best friend, told me that she had to fly back to Canada to see her favorite cousin.

After his performance, he came to sit beside me and asked me,”so… Where is she?” I told him the reason for her absence. He was shock, surprised that she was not there for him. I silently told him that I am here, beside him forever and always. But he did not hear, he just looked at me with puzzling eyes, meaning to repeat what I said. I did not repeat; the moment was over.
Instead, I asked him if he was ready to go home, it was already 10pm. He nodded and got up. I told him that my mom ask me to follow his car, as he is also my next door neighbor. I swear I saw his eyes lighted up a bit but it quickly faded away. So off we went.

In the car, he began chatting about everything, I listened earnestly. For I love listening to his sweet voice. He told me about how nervous he was backstage; I told him that he did amazing because it was true. He glanced at me with a loving look and looked away.

Our favorite radio station “Hitz FM” began playing Taylor Swift’s “You Belong with Me”. We sang along and the only word I found was ‘ironic’. I loved him, and he did not know it. Suddenly, he looked at my in the eye and told me, “You look beautiful tonight, and thanks for being there for me.” I was dumbfounded. I just stared at him questioningly.

Eventually, the words sunk into me and finally I realized the he loved me too. My cheeks were burning, so I guess I must be blushing, I sneaked a peek at him; he was just looking at his black, professional-looking tuxedo. We sat there quietly, until his mother asked me if it was okay for him to have dinner at my place. I told her, “I will ask my mom, but I am sure she will say yes.” So, when we reached home, he followed me to my house.

We had dinner and he came up to my room. The room he knows so well. We listened to some classical music and talked about every famous musician known. After a while, he suddenly said, “I can’t stand it anymore, I have to tell you this… I love you; I have loved you ever since we became friends. ‘She’ was just a distraction, to keep you away from guessing. I know we probably won’t be friends anymore, but I will never regret loving you.”

I did not know what to say, so I just hugged him, as tightly as I could, I never hugged anyone other than my family. He hugged back. And so that is how we become the longest-lasting couple ever known. We definitely put the ‘L’ in ‘Love’.

The End~
